Proceeds of Crime Act Petition

Did you know half the ill-gotten gains of criminals seized in West Yorkshire gets taken by the Treasury?
The Proceeds of Crime Act 2002 (POCA) allows the police to confiscate or recover the proceeds of crime from a criminal. This could include money and other assets such as houses, vehicles and expensive items.

The money currently retained in West Yorkshire is used to help victims, prevent and tackle crime and support our communities.

The money I retain from the proceeds of crime is used for a community fund, known as the Safer Communities Fund, which gives grants to voluntary, community groups, charities and partners. So far I have given out over £700,000 to good causes, however this money could potentially have been doubled!

We need to make sure the Treasury knows you want all the money seized in your communities put back into your communities. Would you support a move to get more of the POCA money recovered in West Yorkshire, back to West Yorkshire? If so please sign and share the petition. Once you have signed the petition return it to Ploughland House, 62 George Street, Wakefield, WF1 1DL.
