There are a number of major threats that we must face together as a region such as serious organised crime, terrorism which can include firearms and drugs offences. West Yorkshire hosts the Regional Organised Crime Unit, the North East Counter Terrorism Unit and the National Police Air Service and is therefore responsible for coordinating the regional response. Even when not "organised" certain crimes have a dramatic effect on people's feelings of safety such as violent crime and bringing the perpetrators to justice often requires support from regional assets too. I will make sure that all organisations involved understand these threats and can respond effectively.
Major Threats Priority Plan
So that we can all understand more about what we are doing together and want to do together to deliver on our priority areas of work we have developed our 'Priority Plans'.
These plans will be refreshed and renewed and are work in progress but we will report on our delivery against these Priority Plans in public facing Community Outcomes Meetings.
We want to demonstrate the difference we are making in our communities but we also want to know what else we could be doing to keep people in West Yorkshire safe and feeling safe.
