PCC Statement on Conviction of Amanda Hutton (4 Oct 2013)

Speaking about the conviction of Amanda Hutton, Mark Burns-Williamson said : "Hamzah's death was a terrible tragedy and the circumstances around it were truly shocking. To that end, a serious case review will be published in due course and I do not wish to pre-empt its outcome.

"This was a very difficult case for the officers involved and the significant role played by PCSO Jodie Dunsmore in uncovering this terrible abuse truly highlights the value of a local policing presence.

"I hope that the conviction will bring some closure in the lives of those affected by this terrible case.

"Today I am supporting the work of police and partners at the Bradford District Safeguarding Unit as part of the district's Safeguarding Week, which has helped to raise awareness of the vital services it provides."
