West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner statement on spontaneous demonstration in Bradford (4 Jan 2017)

Speaking following the spontaneous demonstration in the Leeds Road area of Bradford yesterday, Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner said: "Following the incident in Huddersfield on Monday we need to allow the Independent Police Complaints Commission (IPCC) the time to carry out their important investigation to establish exactly what happened and in the meantime I would appeal to people to remain calm and to respect the wishes of the family at this difficult time.

"I will continue to work with the Chief Constable and West Yorkshire Police to ensure we do everything we can to work with partners and community leaders and to provide the necessary policing presence to help reassure our communities."
