PCC supports International Control Room Week (24 Oct 2018)

International Control Room Week is running from Monday 22 October to Sunday 28 October.

Supporting the week Mark Burns-Williamson, West Yorkshire's Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), said: "The dedicated staff in our customer contact centres have my upmost respect and this week provides a fantastic opportunity to show them how valued they are.

"I make a point of visiting the centres whenever I can so I can to speak to and thank staff personally for the incredible work they do.

"As we can all appreciate, it can be an extremely difficult job at times and even more challenging given the fact demand has reached record highs this year. Approximately 2 million calls are taken a year with over 750,000 crime and incident reports being processed.

"That being said every time I speak to staff from the centres it's clear to see the satisfaction they get from knowing that they really are making a difference to the lives of people in West Yorkshire.

"We are currently recruiting contact officers, if you are interested in joining the team and want to find out more visit https://www.westyorkshire.police.uk/careers/contact-officers. You can also follow along on Twitter using @WYP_CCC and the hashtag #UnsungHeroes."

The week is also being held to help raise money and awareness of mental health with APD Communications donating £1 to Mental Health Charity, Mind (up to £10,000) for every mention of the #UnsungHeroes across social media during the week.
