AUDIT OF ACCOUNTS 2017/18
NOTICE OF PUBLIC RIGHTS

Notice is hereby given that between 1 June and 12 July 2018 (inclusive) any interested party will have the opportunity to inspect the draft Statement of Accounts for 2017/18 of the Police and Crime Commissioner Group for West Yorkshire, the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire, and the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire, and all books, deeds, contracts, bills, vouchers and receipts and other documents relating to them.

The inspection can be undertaken between the hours of 9.00am and 4.00pm Monday to Friday at Wakefield One, Burton Street, Wakefield, WF1 2DD. If you wish to inspect the accounts please contact us and we will arrange for you to view them. Applications to inspect any of the accounts should be made initially to the Treasurer, Office of the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire (tel: 01924-294000).

Copies of all or any part of the accounts or those other documents referred to above may be made, subject to payment of a copying charge.

A local government elector for the area, or any representative of the elector, has the opportunity to question the auditor about the accounting records. An elector also has the right to make an objection to the auditor where there are concerns on matters in respect of which the auditor could make a public interest report, or where the auditor could apply for a declaration that an item of account is contrary to law.

If you want to ask questions, or object to the accounts, you can contact the KPMG LLP, 1 Sovereign Square, Sovereign Street, Leeds, LS1 4DA. This must be in writing, and clearly set out the grounds on which you are objecting. You must also send a copy to the Treasurer or Assistant Chief Officer, Finance and Business Services at the addresses below.

From Wednesday, 12th August 2015, until the completion of the audit, local government electors and their representatives can ask the appointed auditor questions about the accounts or make objections to them. The Audit Commission Act 1998 says that objections can be made because -
a) an item is unlawful, or b) something has been omitted (unless the Secretary of State has approved the omission), or c) there is a loss or deficiency because of someone's wilful misconduct, or d) it is in the public interest that something should be considered by the Police and Crime Commissioner for West Yorkshire or the Chief Constable of West Yorkshire Police or brought to the attention of the public.
