If you are looking for a new challenge and want to be part of delivering an innovative response to tackling domestic abuse, then this could be the role for you. This is an exciting opportunity to join Restorative Solutions and take a key role in delivering CARA across West Yorkshire.

CARA targets standard risk domestic abuse offenders by offering two domestic abuse awareness raising workshops as part of a conditional caution issued by West Yorkshire Police. We are working in partnership with the Hampton Trust to deliver CARA workshops across the area.

We are looking for individuals who have experience of working with both female and male victims/survivors of domestic abuse and an aptitude and ability to engage individuals from a range of backgrounds.

Pairs of workshops for offenders are delivered on Saturdays, 4 to 5 weeks apart, for separate, single sex groups of offenders of intimate partner/ex intimate partner domestic abuse, and of non intimate partner inter familial abuse.

Between the two workshops your role will be to make contact with victims/survivors, via telephone at a time convenient to and safe for the victim/survivor and with their consent, in order to gain their input and feedback on any changes in the offenders’ behaviour (positive or negative), any concerns they might have, to identify any risks or safeguarding issues, and any further support needs.

Further details and an application form can be obtained from policingandcrime@westyorks-ca.gov.uk.

The closing date for applications is 12 noon on Friday 25th September. Interviews will be via video on a date to be confirmed.

Channel Intervention Provider

Channel is a safeguarding process which provides support across the country to those who may be vulnerable to being drawn into terrorism. The overall aim of the programme is early intervention to divert people away from the risk(s) they may face. The process includes a wide range of agencies and local partners working together to provide support for individuals. Where appropriate, a Channel Panel made of representatives from these agencies will ask an Intervention Provider to provide support for the vulnerable individual as part of this process.

Intervention Providers can be individuals or part of a wider organisation which can help a vulnerable individual. The support they provide is always tailored to the specific needs of the individual following assessment by the panel. Channel provides numerous forms of support for the individual such as life skills, anger management sessions, cognitive / behavioural therapy, education skills and theological / ideological mentoring.

Numerous intervention providers offer a range of experience, languages and specialisms. Areas where there are current opportunities for this kind of support in the North East are for people with experience and knowledge of the Extreme Right Wing, Shia Islam and the Afghan Community. If you feel you have the experience and knowledge of the areas mentioned and would like to apply to be an intervention provider or would like to know more please contact:
