Duke of Edinburgh - PCC Tribute
9th April 2021
West Yorkshire Police and Crime Commissioner (PCC), Mark Burns-Williamson OBE said:
“I would like to extend my personal condolences to The Queen and the Royal Family at this sad time. My thoughts are with them all.
“In 2015, Prince Philip officially opened up our state of the art regional police training facilities at Carr Gate in Wakefield and he knew more than most what a life dedicated to public service required.
“It was a real pleasure to have met him personally during what I understand was one of his last public engagements in West Yorkshire and his enthusiasm for policing was clear for all to see.
“He will undoubtedly be remembered for his devotion to The Queen and extraordinary commitment to our country, not least here in West Yorkshire over many decades, for which we will be ever grateful.
“Our flags will be lowered in tribute and as a mark of respect.”
